Together we can tell more stories
Bow Street Museum of Crime and Justice* is an independent and non-profit charity. Every donation we receive is critical to our work. Your gift to the Museum will directly support us in three key ways:
Educate, surprise and inspire
Help us work with leading speakers, historians, artists and workshop facilitators to develop a cutting-edge programme of events that engage all audiences with the history of crime and justice on Bow Street.
For everyone
We are committed to ensuring that everything we do can be enjoyed by all. Help us engage with local, national and international communities in accessible ways.
Always up-to-date
Help us continue our research into the history of Bow Street Magistrates’ Court and Police Station, to ensure our exhibitions remain up-to-date and relevant to our audiences and reflect the lived experiences of those who have come into contact with Bow Street over the last 300 years.
Donate today to save the Dock
Over the next year, we aim to raise an additional £100,000, this will enable us to:
- Conserve the courtroom dock where legendary playwright Oscar Wilde stood for his committal hearing at Bow Street Magistrates’ Court following his arrest on charges of gross indecency in April 1895 and enable you to have the experience of standing where Oscar Wilde stood 130 years ago.
- Create an accompanying exhibition which brings the story of Oscar Wilde’s arrest to life and amplifies the voices of the LGBTQ+ communities’ relationship with the justice system today.
- Help us reach more people and keep telling the story of Bow Street for future generations.

Leaving a Legacy
Leaving a gift to Bow Street Museum of Crime and Justice in your will is one of the most enduring ways in which you can support us, no matter what size the gift.
As an independent charity, a gift in your will helps us to develop and deliver a programme of events and activities, paving the way for future exhibitions, collaborations and projects that engage local, national and international communities. And helps us continue our research into the history of Bow Street Magistrates’ Court and Police Station, to ensure the Museum remains up-to-date and relevant to our audiences and that it reflects the lived experiences of those who have come into contact with Bow Street over the last 300 years.
