Learning Groups

The Bow Street Museum of Crime and Justice welcomes formal schools, colleges, universities and other educational groups, and home educators for learning group visits. On this page, you can find all the information and guidelines to plan your next visit.

Self-Guided Learning Group Bookings

To arrange a visit during our regular opening times (Friday – Sunday, 11.00 – 16.30, last entry 16.00). Please select Learning Group tickets available for £6.00 per person (please follow the link below and scroll to the bottom). A card payment is needed complete the booking.

Time slots are limited to 20 people every thirty minutes, to help manage the flow of visitors in the space. Groups of more than 20 people are welcome to book multiple time slots, depending on how busy the museum is we may stagger your group slightly but you can all visit at the same time.

We recommend all Learning Groups email the Museum team in advance for our Risk Assessment pack or to arrange payment via invoice. Please read our ‘Learning Group Guidance’ via the link below before you book or contact our team with any concerns.

Learning Group Workshops

To enquire about a staff-facilitated workshop outside our usual opening hours, please contact the Museum team for availability via email [email protected] 

Price: £10 per person.

Our available workshops include:

  • Fingerprint Forensics (KS2-KS4)
  • Identikit (KS2-KS4)
  • The First Detectives (KS3-KS4)

Walking Tours and Private Tours

The Museum offers a variety of walking tours around Covent Garden to explore the fascinating social history of the area and how law and order interacted with the people who lived and worked there. To book a Private Walking Tour please reach out to our staff, all tickets are £20 per person and require a minimum booking of 10 to proceed, please email the Museum team [email protected] for dates and payment.

For groups looking for exclusive access, the museum offers private tours for between 8 – 25 people and our popular with University Groups and Further Learning groups. Please visit our dedicated Private Tour page for more information.

Ahead of your visit

  • Teachers are responsible for students’ behaviour and safety at all times. Please remind your group not to touch objects, shout or run.
  • No food or drink is allowed inside the cells (unless in a closed container e.g. a bottle).
  • Photography is allowed and very much encouraged!
  • Please only use pencils in the gallery and no pens – our team have plenty if you need to borrow some.
